NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - Governor Livingston’s girls swimming winning streak continued with one more victory, this time over New Providence on Tuesday with a score of 113 to 57. Their achievement over their rival neighbor was a sweet prize after last season’s loss.
Strong and solid describes their swimming according to Coach David Closs as the girls were able to extend their stretch of first, second and third place sweeps in two events. The 50 freestyle saw Caroline Kolmodin (first), Phoebe Kim (second) and Taylor Rooney (third) take charge of the high scoring meet. The girls prevailed in a second sweep in the 100 backstroke with Rachel Heeren (first), Ava Biegel (second) and Claire Kim (third).
Other highlights showed how much the team is well into the swing of the season. In the 200 freestyle Kate Curran finished first and Ashley Chang took third. Ava Biegel placed first and Rebekah Chuba finished third in the tough 200 IM. The girls placed first and second in the 400 freestyle relays.
The Lady Highlanders finish their final regular season away meet on Thursday against Plainfield and look ahead to counties at Rutgers on Sunday.
