"High School 9-1-1" Documentary to Show at Cranford Community Center

CRANFORD, NJ - The Cranford First Aid Squad will host a film screening of the documentary "High School 9-1-1".

The documentary will show Wednesday April 5, at 7 p.m., at the Cranford Community Center. The screening is free and open to the public, with a run time of 85 minutes and is appropriate for ages 10 and up.

The inspirational film follows Darien Connecticut EMS-Post 53, the only ambulance service for the town. They cover one of the deadliest stretches of I-95 and is run and operated by high-school students.  Shot over the course of a year with an exclusive and intimate lens into a 40 year old organization, "High School 911" takes you on an epic journey with unlikely heroes: teenagers. It demonstrates what teenagers are capable of when given the opportunity by the adults in their lives.

The Cadet program at the Cranford First Aid Squad allows high-school students from ages 16-18 to go on calls with the regular EMS crew and to become EMTs before graduating high school.

CFAS President Kailyn Grant said “The Cadet program at Cranford First Aid is one of our priorities.  Being a CFAS member challenges them in ways they never expected when they first joined.  It is amazing to see them progress and mature as they are given more and more responsibility.”

“We are super excited to have High School 9-1-1 shown at the Cranford Community Center” said film Director Tim Warren, a past member of the Darien squad.  “New Jersey and Connecticut have a lot in common, with their numerous volunteer EMS squads providing service to so many townships such as Cranford.”

You Want a Check for How Much!

My first admissions gig was working for a small liberal arts college with a pretty hefty price tag.  Picture me at a college fair: name tag in place, pile of brochures ready to go.  An eager family would walk up and we’d start a conversation.  One of the first questions I’d get from parents was about cost and the moment that $50,000-plus figure left my mouth I ...

Proud to support Tom Malinowski for Congress

March 8, 2018

Every single day, whether I want to be or not, I am reminded how important it is that Democrats gain control of the House of Representatives in November and check Donald Trump. Fortunately, there is a terrific candidate in New Jersey's 7th Congressional District who can beat incumbent Leonard Lance. That candidate is Tom Malinowski.

I'm a lifelong New Jersey resident -- including ...
