First Congregational Church of Westfield’s video- and discussion-based series, Great Decisions, continues on Monday, Feb. 25 with a session dedicated to the current issues surrounding conflict in cyberspace.
Syber conflict is a relatively new and continually developing threat, including the possibility of foreign interference in elections, industrial sabotage and attacks on infrastructure, according to the Foreign Policy Association.
From accusations of interference in the 2016 US Presidential election process by Russia, to knowledge of China’s use of cyberspace as a tool of national policy. Moving forward, combating cyber conflict will require new ways of looking at 21st Century warfare and determining if the United States is fully prepared to respond to these threats.
Participants will view the companion video narrated by Academy Award-nominated actor David Strathairn, followed by examination and discussion about the political, practical, scientific, social and spiritual aspects of the issue.
The session begins at 7:30 p.m. and admission is free.
The Great Decisions series concludes on Monday, March 4 with an examination of Nationalism in Europe, including the rise of populist parties in Europe, Brexit and Immigration and border control, among other topics.
Great Decisions is offered by the Foreign Policy Association and takes place in Patton Auditorium at First Congregational Church, 125 Elmer Street in Westfield, NJ.
