Once again the Westfield Memorial Library is offering Accounting Basics Demystified, Parts I and II, on Monday, October 31 and Wednesday, November 9 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The Library, located at 550 East Broad Street, is also hosting Introduction to PC Computers on Saturday, November 5 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

All of these classes are presented by Karen Camden, a frequent speaker at the library. She is the President of Camden Associates, a consulting firm that provides services in Communications and People Skills, Organizational Assessments and Clutter Control. She has also presented numerous computer classes and workshops on organizing, repurposing, kitchen gardens and sewing.

Accounting Basics Demystified, Parts I and II, are for those who are frightened by accounting terminology or new to the concepts of accounting and finance. Participants will become familiar with the terminology and basics so that they will be able to understand financial statements and the accounting process, and how to read an annual report and to apply and interpret ratios.

Introduction to PC Computers is for those who are completely new to using computers. Ms.Camden will discuss terms such as Windows, the cloud, ISP, and icons. She will also talk about how computers work. (Neither MAC nor Apple will be discussed.)

Class members will also receive a tip sheet on “what to consider before buying a new computer.” This is not a hands-on class.

The programs are free and open to Westfield Memorial Library and MURAL cardholders. (MURAL cardholders belong to libraries that are part of the Middlesex Union Reciprocal Agreement Libraries. Check our website to see if your library participates.) To register, visit the library’s website at www.wmlnj.org, click on the Online Calendar, or call 908.789.4090 option 0.
