MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ – With the recent cold spell and snowfall, residents here may be dreaming about hot summer weather when the community pool opens again. Municipal leaders are thinking the same way, it seems.

The Mountainside Borough Council will vote at its upcoming meeting on Tuesday evening on an ordinance to increase fees at the pool for both residents and non-residents alike. A public hearing on the matter will be held before the council votes.

For residents and full-time Mountainside Borough municipal employees, some of the planned fees are as follows:

Starting in 2016, the proposed family membership fee will increase to $327, which is a $7 increase.

Under the new pricing, a single membership 16 years of age or older would go up to $167 from $163 last year.

Single parent/child cost would increase to $279 from $273; the senior citizen fee would be $115 as opposed to $112 last year; and the au pair/nanny fee would also rise to $115 from $112.

A full list of the proposed membership-fee changes for the Mountainside Community Pool on Mountain Avenue adjacent to Echo Lake Park is available in PDF file format on the Mountainside Borough website.

Pool membership applications can be obtained at the Recreation Office, Mountainside Borough Hall, 1385 Route 22, Mountainside, NJ 07092. To have an application mailed to you, call 908-232-0015.
