From April 18-24, 2021, Mountainside will join municipalities across the Garden State with a virtual celebration of NJ Local Government Week. 

Because local government is closest to most citizens, and the one with the most direct daily impact on residents, it is important for residents of all ages to understand how their local government operates, the services it provides, and the importance of their active involvement. 

“NJ Local Government Week is an opportunity to help our residents become more informed about the many services Mountainside provides,” said Council President Deanna Andre.  “We are excited to participate this year, and the virtual activities planned will provide an opportunity for residents of all ages to become more informed about services and organizations in our town.  It is also an opportunity to get to know the many employees and volunteers.”

Events planned for the week include: Virtual tours of Borough Hall, Fire Department, Police Department, Rescue Squad Recreation Department, Hetfield House, and the Library.   

The Mountainside Restoration Committee will also be showcasing interesting pictures they have collected over the years. These photos will be posted weekly, starting during Local Government Week, and will be posted to the Borough’s Facebook page.  All other virtual events will be on the local TV station (channel 35 or 39), and posted to our Facebook page.
