MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ - Several members of “Beautiful Mountainside,” the Borough’s beautification committee took advantage of the warm temperatures on Saturday to outfit the new strands of holiday lights with approximately 2,000 new bulbs.

The holiday tree is getting a entire makeover, courtesy of an anonymous business donor who generously provided the funds to purchase the new lights.

Jeff Houston, an electrician who lives in town volunteered to lend his expertise to assist with the project.  Mark Garretson of Precision Tree Care removed the former tree lights, and will be replacing the new ones well in time for the annual December Tree Lighting festivities.

Beautiful Mountainside Committee chairperson Todd Evans, along with many members of the grass roots committee dedicated to “Making Mountainside Beautiful,” recently celebrated the newly formed organization’s one year anniversary.

“We’re very proud of the accomplishments the group has made in just a matter of months.  We hope residents have noticed the colorful addition of flowers in the new planters on the streets downtown, and we want to wow everyone when the tree is lit.”

Mr. Evans also noted, “Future plans to spruce up the Borough will be funded by donations, and the committee is looking forward to local support.”

He noted, “Beautiful Mountainside is currently raising money with their adult Halloween party for its yearly upkeep.  The fundraiser will be held on October 28 at the Elks club.”

Tickets are $50 and all proceeds will benefit Beautiful Mountainside.  Please call Andi Hoy for tickets at 908 370-4558.

To learn more, please “like” Beautiful Mountainside on Facebook, or consider volunteering.  The committee meets the first Monday of each month at the Hetfield House at 7 p.m.
