WESTFIELD, NJ — Emack and Bolio’s ice cream and chocolates will be featured in the Westfield Creamery, an ice cream shop set to open in Downtown Westfield within about 30 days, according to owner Roger Paradis.

The new store will be next door to the Rialto movie theater at 258 East Broad St.

“We chose Westfield because it is a vibrant, family-friendly community,” Paradis said. “The Westfield shop’s ambiance will definitely cater to children and ice cream lovers of all ages.”

Emack and Bolio’s was founded in Boston in 1975 as a place for musicians to hang out after shows, according to the company website. The brand is known for its creative cones and unique chocolates. Today, they have locations in Massachusetts, New York, Hong Kong, South Korea and more.

“Emack & Bolio's is a double-premium, award-winning ice cream with a long history of success that trends strongly on Instagram and other social media,” Paradis said. “E&B enjoys tens of thousands of followers, and one Instagram post exceeded two million views.”

Although there was a permit granted for building changes at the location, the only updates will be a new sign and a fresh coat of paint, according to Sherry Cronin, the executive director of the Downtown Westfield Corporation.

“Westfield is a natural fit demographically and we hope to bring lots of ice cream bonding enjoyment to all the families in town and those in surrounding communities,” Paradis said.

Sleep out at Covenant House

June 18, 2018

I can enjoy the same movies over and over like it were the first time to see them.  My kids roll their eyes at this.  Well, many unimaginable things happen as you become a certain age, and you tend to learn to accept those things graciously as gift.   But I remember the movie “The Blind Side.”  Until I saw that movie, I didn’t know homeless children ...

What's Hot and What's Not

Summer is a great time to take a step back, sip a cool beverage, and take a look at what’s going on in the world of college admissions.  Departments use the summer to evaluate how their year went and plan on any changes they want to make for the fall.  Did they over-enroll? Under-enroll?  What application materials were useful to them?  Which were redundant or time ...

Get Empowered to Help Prevent Suicide

June 10, 2018

Dear Editor:

Over the past week social media and the news have been filled with stories and articles encouraging people to seek help if they’re in emotional distress. There have been countless articles about the need to break the silence around the topic of mental health and suicide, and I am encouraged by the support people are extending to others.

Often, the death by suicide by ...
