MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ - Prince’s Farm was a 150 acre farm on South Springfield Avenue that operated in Springfield for four generations. In 1990, the farm was sold to developers for new home construction. For many years after that the Prince family operated a farm stand at the same location.

Now, Micky and Donna Prince of Springfield have another member of the family running a farm stand. Their daughter Heather Prince Murphy of Mountainside with her husband Tom bought a vacant lot at 1123 Mountain Avenue, Mountainside next to Vine Republic and across the street from Echo Lake Park.

This visually beautiful building was designed and decorated by Heather. Each piece of barn wood was hand painted by Heather in various colors. Posters of the original farm decorate the building. Heather’s goal is to bring quality freshly grown local produce to the area.

Prince’s Farm Stand will also carry items such as local honey, olive oil, baked goods and fruit pies. The dairy case carries milk in glass bottles and local eggs. Fresh flowers, hanging baskets and potted plants are also available.

A selection of prepared foods is also offered including a selection from the popular vendor, Farmer and the Chickpea. This Farmers’ Market staple includes chicken pot pies, cauliflower pancakes and a crowd pleasing favorite, roasted Parmesan chick peas topped with roasted kale, mozzarella and tomatoes.

Sleep out at Covenant House

June 18, 2018

I can enjoy the same movies over and over like it were the first time to see them.  My kids roll their eyes at this.  Well, many unimaginable things happen as you become a certain age, and you tend to learn to accept those things graciously as gift.   But I remember the movie “The Blind Side.”  Until I saw that movie, I didn’t know homeless children ...

What's Hot and What's Not

Summer is a great time to take a step back, sip a cool beverage, and take a look at what’s going on in the world of college admissions.  Departments use the summer to evaluate how their year went and plan on any changes they want to make for the fall.  Did they over-enroll? Under-enroll?  What application materials were useful to them?  Which were redundant or time ...
