MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ - Saturday, November 28 is Small Business Saturday, a day set aside since 2010 between Black Friday and Cyber Monday to encourage shoppers to spend their holiday money at local mom-and-pop stores. Mountainside and its surrounding communities are home to many restaurants, spas, salons, service oriented businesses and many other merchants.

American Express, which created Small Business Saturday, stated, 64 percent of business owners felt that this year the day is more important than ever. In 2019, roughly 110 million people participated, spending an estimated $19.6 billion, a record high, said Andy Goldberg, American Express's senior vice president, global brand management and planning.

It is said that when you shop small at independent, locally owned businesses, 52 percent of what you spend stays right in your community, supporting local organizations and services, as stated on the Shop Small Neighborhoods website.

Shopping at small businesses supports the local economy and local businesses who give back so much to our communities.  Healthy business leads to healthy community.  Support the local on Small Business Saturday and all year long.
