TryCAN participants and families are invited to attend the Summit Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony and march under the TryCAN banner, giving TryCAN kids a chance to comfortably march with pride in a parade! The parade is held Monday May 29, marching through Summit to Summit’s Village Green. Look for the TryCAN mentors and the TryCAN banner at 25 DeForest Avenue in Summit at 9:30 am when the parade gathers. The ceremony following the parade on the Village Green is a great opportunity for younger family members to learn about the sacrifices made by our military through the ages. The Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony is hosted by the American Legion Lindsey Street Post 322 and is produced with the Summit Department of Community Programs.
TryCAN has the honor of being selected by the Summit Junior Fortnightly Club as this year's beneficiary at SJFC's annual TOT TROT event. We are truly humbled by this honor. Funds raised at the Tot Trot will help TryCAN develop and roll out a new life skills training. The Tot Trot is a day of games, face painting, petting zoo, refreshments and family friendly activities including a non-competitive children’s Fun Run. The event takes place June 4 from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm. There will be a special “open time” for TryCAN kids. Please contact TryCAN at email@example.com for more information about the open time. You can register online for the Tot Trot at www.sifclub.org.
The 8th annual TryCAN Baseball Under the Lights, hosted by Summit Community Programs and TryCAN, takes place Friday, June 16, 2017 at Jefferson School Field at 110 Ashwood Avenue in Summit, with a tailgate starting at 6:30pm and game at 7:15pm. Join us as family, friends, teen peer volunteers and coaches cheer on the baseball talents of our special kids. Special thanks to the Summit Junior Baseball, the Summit FMBA, the Summit Fire Department, Thompson Sporting Goods, and the Summit Elks Lodge, Red Mango, and Target for their generous support. We have a full team of players now but would love the public to join us, even just for a few minutes, to cheer our kids on.
TryCAN will be running several classes this summer including Dance and Movement camp, Mini Yoga, playgroups and social skills group, and a playground camp. Dates, times, descriptions, prices will be available soon at summitcommunityprograms.com.
