SUMMIT, NJ - A Summit resident was struck by a motor vehicle while crossing Broad Street September 22 at approximately 9:32 p.m. According to the Summit Police Department, the victim -- identified only as a 53-year-old with a Morris Avenue residence -- was transported by the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad to Morristown Medical Center in critical condition.
The incident occurred near the intersection of Park Place. An initial investigation by Summit Police Department indicates that the driver, a 48-year-old Springfield woman, was heading east on Broad Street when the pedestrian suddenly entered the roadway and was struck by the side of a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe.
The driver of the motor vehicle remained at the scene.
The accident is currently under investigation by the Summit Police Department Traffic Safety Unit.
