WESTFIELD, NJ — About 40 volunteers are still needed to help with Greta’s Run, a 5K with the Westfield Area Y this Sunday, Sept. 13, that will benefit young adults with special needs.

“We need 40 course marshals to stand at course points and make sure runners keep going in the right direction along the course and cheer people on,” Ben Nanna, co-founder of Greta’s Run and assistant director of special programs and events at the Westfield Area Y, said. “It's a great cause, and 1,000 of your neighbors, friends and family will be there.”

Greta’s Run is named for Greta Schoenemann, who died in 2002 while she was a freshman at Westfield High School. Money raised will be used to fund the Y’s Dragonfly Program, which offers fitness, recreation and social opportunities for young adults with special needs. To learn more, click here.
