Flamenco Nights @ Galeria West: A music & dance concert!

The popular FLAMENCO NIGHTS @ GALERIA WEST music & dance concert series continues on Friday, July 19, 2019 at 7:30pm at the Galeria West Art & Music Gallery, located at 111 Quimby Street in downtown Westfield, NJ. Come join with acclaimed flamenco dancer Elizabet Torras Aguilera from Barcelona, Spain, accomplished flamenco guitarist Pedro Cortes, in-demand guitarist & flamenco singer Juan Pedro Jimenez plus a special guest flamenco artist for a special performance event as they celebrate the best of this internationally popular gitano music & dance genre.

Elisabet Torras Aguilera was born and raised in Barcelona where she studied Flamenco and Danza Española at the Conservatory of Dance and Theatre of Barcelona and continued her studies later in Madrid. Amongst her teachers were La Chana, Carlos Lérida, Carmen La Talegona, Concha Jareño, Belen Cabanes, Gala Vivancos, Javier Latorre, Miguel Ángel Rojas y Carlos Rodríguez, and others.

Elisabet has toured Europe and Asia with the Zarzuela, Clasico Espanyol and Flamenco companies. She performed at El Patio Andaluz, El Palacio del Flamenco in Barcelona and El Tablao de la Chus in Almería. In 2009 Elisabet was invited as a guest artist for the Flamenco Festival Viva España in Moscow and the Presidence Belge-Festival in Brussels. She toured Spain and China with Flamenco pianist Manolo Carrascos company, performed several seasons with Javier Latorres Somorrostro Dansa Flamenca Company and danced for Rojas & Rodriguez Company in Madrid in 2011. Since 2013 Elisabet is a frequent performer at Alegrias la Nacional and other stages in New York City and the tristate area and has performed with the New York City based companies A Palo Seco and Noche Flamenca. As a teacher, Elisabet worked in Madrid & Barcelona as well as Moscows Flamenqueria, an institute dedicated to Spanish traditions and folklore.

Teatro Sí presents these popular performances of passionate flamenco music and dance for flamenco aficionados during each annual season. Along with special diverse guest artists, the experience reveals the pure emotional essence of this popular Iberian music and dance form. Together they celebrate the expressive flamenco as it takes on a new character and exposes the audience to the warmth of the human spirit as expressed through music and dance. The dance movements and the facial expressions join with the artistry of the musicians and singer to create a spectacle that is a treat for both the eye and the soul. Come experience an evening of Spanish gypsy culture with the cast of this captivating music and dance celebration!
