MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ – Mayor Paul Mirabelli announced a busy mid-October weekend with multiple community events taking place on Oct. 12-13 at the Tuesday, Oct. 2 Borough Council work session.
The fall Pickleball tournament is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 12 at the Mountainside tennis courts. The optional learn to play clinic will take place at 5:00-5:45 pm. The tournament featuring multiple skill levels will run from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm. The event is sponsored by the Mountainside Rotary Club and the Mayor’s Fitness Initiative. Ticket price is $20/person and all proceeds go to the Rotary Club. Those who would like to register to the event or have additional questions may call 908-967-7066. The rain date for the tournament is Sunday, Oct. 14.
Mountainside P.A.L. (Police Athletic League) is organizing the 19th annual Cop Trot / Tot Trot event on Saturday, Oct. 13 at Deerfield School. The event is the main fundraiser for the organization. The event begins with a Tot Trot for Children 6 and under at 8:30 am followed by the 5K race at 9:00 am. The top three runners in each age group will receive awards. The event also features music and pre- and post-race refreshments.
The advance registration fee for the 5K run is $25 for adults and $20 for children 15 and under. The family registration fee for 4 or more runners/walkers is $65. Race day registration is $5 above the pre-registration fee for all categories. Registration is available at www.Mountainsidepal.com. The Mountainside PTO is hosting its annual Fall Festival also on Saturday, Oct. 13 at Deerfield School. The event starts at noon and continues until 4 pm. This family event features rides, games, a Tricky Tray as well as refreshments.
