MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ - Nearly a dozen proprietors operate small businesses in the downtown business district in Mountainside, all with their unique charm and range of services. To enhance the pleasure of their customers, and the town in general, a volunteer committee was formed a few years ago comprised of about twenty members (and growing). Their mission: To make Mountainside Beautiful. Their name: Beautiful Mountainside.
While their projects are many (the refurbishing/restringing of lights on the Borough’s Christmas Tree; the recent overhaul of the “Summit Triangle” at the corner of Summit Road and Route 22; intermittent litter clean ups throughout the year), etc., perhaps one of the most visible, and indeed eye-catching, are the decorative planters filled with seasonal blooms in front of the storefronts which the volunteers maintain.
Recognizing the seemingly never ending hot temperatures can sometimes take their toll, the committee recently decided to present the business owners with their very own watering cans, donated by committee member (and councilman) Bob Messler. The cans are adorned with the committee’s logo, courtesy of Beautiful Mountainside’s chairman, Todd Evans.
Beautiful Mountainside would like to formally thank the all the local businesses for their support throughout the entire year, as well as the many outstanding private citizens who have volunteered their time, talent, in-kind services, as well as monetary donations.
