MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ -- A small fire in a popcorn machine at the AMC Mountainside 10 on Monday night has led to the temporary closure of the theatre, according to Bryan Villarroel, the manager on duty at the theatre.
He said since there was a fire involved, they “can’t open up the building to the public until the fire department and the health inspector can approve that it’s safe.”
Villarroel, when asked when the theatre would reopen, said there “is no exact ETA when that will happen, but certainly not today … Maybe tomorrow,” which would be Wednesday, June 19.
A photo of a sign on one of the doors to the theatre was posted on the Mountainside Matters Facebook page this morning. Early calls to the theatre itself produced no information, except that the call volume was high and people should check out the website. That requires finding the theatre, and clicking on showtimes. Once on that site, there was a message, “We apologize for the inconvenience, this theatre is temporarily closed.”
