MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ - Mountainside Fire Department responded to a structure fire in a home on Corinne Terrace on Monday, December 23 at approximately 11 p.m.

When police and fire units arrived, they found the breezeway between the garage and house to be heavily involved in fire and the two adult occupants had safely evacuated along with their dog, said Police Chief Joseph Giannuzzi.

The fire elevated to a two alarm response which brought fire units from Springfield, Westfield, and Summit to the scene to assist.

Giannuzzi said the home sustained severe fire and smoke damage and is not able to be occupied.

The fire was brought under control within 45 minutes and is not considered to be suspicious at this time.

There were no injuries to the homeowners or first responders.
