NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - With a recent uptick in reports of motor vehicle thefts and burglaries in New Providence and adjacent towns, the New Providence Police Department reminds residents that criminal activity has not ceased in the wake of COVID-19 and sheltering in place. In a recent release, the NPPD advised residents to lock their vehicle doors and take valuables inside their residences. Do not leave key fobs inside your vehicle and remove any valet keys that may be in the glove boxes.

On April 22, 2020, at approximately 3:00 am, a vehicle was stolen from the driveway of a New Providence Borough resident in the area of Mountain Avenue and Club Lane.  The vehicle, a newer model SUV, was discovered missing in the late morning hours of April 22, 2020.  

On April 22, 2020, a resident of Division Avenue reported that an unknown individual had entered their motor vehicle during the overnight hours. The resident initially reported that nothing was taken, but their vehicle had been rummaged through.
