BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Senior catcher Dan Quinn had a chance to be in the lineup every day, but we'll never know and that kills me to think this, said Gov. Livingston head coach Chris Roof.

After just five practices, the Highlander baseball season and all spring sports were stopped and ultimately canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

What Roof knew was Dan Quinn was a hard hitting catcher that led the JV team to back-to-back Union County Tournament championship appearances. "One young man I was really looking forward to coaching and having on our team this season was Dan," said Roof. "Dan is a walking example of what a GL baseball player is," he said. "I wish nothing but great success to Dan because he truly deserves it."

Last year when the varsity team played a game at TD Bank Ballpark, the home of the Somerset Patriots, Roof invited Quinn to join in the experience. This is a memory not to be forgotten. "We went to the Somerset Patriots field and the whole vibe of the experience and the camaraderie with the team was awesome to be part of," Quinn said.

"Wearing the GL baseball uniform means so much more than just any other uniform," said Quinn. "Putting on the GL uniform makes you part of a family. Being a part of this family has been one of the most awesome experiences of my life and I will remember it forever."
