BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - The Governor Livingston girls basketball team throttled Linden, 61-15, on Tuesday, February 3rd, in Berkeley Heights. Six players scored over 7 points in the winning effort on Senior night.

Before the game had started, Seniors Shannon Polimeni, Skylar Dowling, and Paige Phillips we’re honored for their contributions to the girls basketball program. All three players were multi year starters on varsity contributing valuable minutes over the past few seasons.

The game started with an abundance of baskets for the Highlanders, as they held a 21 point lead at the end of the first quarter, 23-2. Phillips was able to knock down multiple 3 pointers to disrupt the Linden zone in the first half.

The second quarter provided the same disruption to the zone, as Dowling and Polimeni were able to make crucial baskets to expand the score to 41-4 at halftime.

The second half saw a rejuvenated Linden team come out, as they were able to total 6 points in the third quarter. Faith Reddick was able to lead the team in scoring with 11 points and 3 rebounds in the defeat.

Governor Livingston increased their record to 10-8 on the year winning their last 3 games. They will be back in action on Thursday, February 6th where they take on the Dayton Bulldogs whom they defeated 42-38 a few weeks back in OT.
