MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ — On Sunday, Nov. 3, you can join other families in a special walking event called "Stroll & Roll" that celebrates the natural beauty of public parks and trails. The FreeWalkers, a non-profit dedicated to getting everyone walking, is hosting a special "family walk" that begins in Echo Lake Park in Mountainside. Meet by the gazebo starting at 10:30 a.m.
The idea behind Stroll & Roll is to encourage the entire family to walk together and appreciate the beauty of multi-purpose trails. The path will include a part of the East Coast Greenway, a 3,000-mile walking and biking route that runs from Maine to Florida.
According to event co-leader, Risa Olinsky of Maplewood, "We welcome everyone in the family of any age and encourage the use of strollers, carriages, bicycles and wheelchairs. In other words, everyone should come and join us if they can move on their own or someone else can help them. It's good for you and for everyone you love."
Yohana Osorio, the event leader working on activities, reminds the public, "The event is free and open to everyone. We have some great games and surprises for families to participate in. There will also be park staff and naturalists around to answer your questions about the trail and the parks in which we will be walking."
To find out how you and your family can register for free, go to Eventbrite, and follow the event on the FreeWalkers Facebook page. Learn more about Union County Parks & Recreation, the East Coast Greenway and other useful information that will make the most of your walk.
