NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — A carjacking late last night has city cops searching for three suspects in the armed robbery, according to an announcement from the New Brunswick Police Department.
The carjacking took place at 11:58 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, on the 100 block of Townsend Street, Capt. J.T. Miller said in a press release.
The owner of a 2007 black Nissan Murano stood outside his parked vehicle with a friend when the robbery went down, police said. Three African-American men showed up, flashed handguns and “demanded the keys” to the car, police alleged.
The owner handed his keys to the robbers, who then fled toward Remsen Avenue in the car “without incident,” police said. Neither the victim nor his pal said they sustained injuries during the robbery.
Anyone with information on the crime should call Det. Raymond Quick at 732-745-5217.
