EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - Trust is important to Chris Slavicek.  Over the years, the local communities of Spotswood, East Brunswick, and Helmetta have learned to trust this energetic and creative young man.  He has directed plays as "Mr. Chris" at Appleby School.  He has created a family environment at Chelsea Living.  He even ran unopposed this past November when he was re-elected as the Mayor of Helmetta.  Slavicek hopes to extend the trust which he has built to his care for the residents, support for the staff, and engagement of the local community in his new role as Senior Administrator at the new CareOne at 664 Cranbury Road.

CareOne has been a part of the East Brunswick healthcare system for many years as a provider of skilled sub-acute rehabilitationspecialized clinical programs and long-term care in its location at 599 Cranbury Road.

Sometime in May or June 2020, CareOne will open a second facility on Cranbury Road near the Park Chateau and across from the County Fairgrounds.  Work continues on the new building, which is set next to Park Chateau Hotel which is also under construction.  Registration is already open for the new location.  Information and counseling are available at a temporary "Welcome Center at the Medical Arts Building at 620 Cranbury Road in Room 2013 on the second floor.  Interested parties are also asked to call 201-587-3607 to speak with Slavicek personally.

"CareOne desires to help local residents 'age in place' without having to go too far from their original neighborhoods, " says Slavicek of the company's desire to serve local residents as they move into more manageable conditions or need a greater level of care. "CareOne is innovative and organized and has developed a platform for every level of care for an aging population.  We hope to provide a continuity of care."

The facility will house 68 beds in "Harmony Village" for those patients requiring Memory Care or assistance with the complications of dementia. This a focus for the new facility and a new level of care for the aging population through CareOne.

Slavicek describes the rest of the facility as a "cruise ship on land" for the 36 residents who will live in apartments and enjoy a bistro, pub, patio, and cooking space outside.  All apartments are furnished by CareOne, with plenty of room for personalization by the residents who will make the space their homes.  "We are looking to provide a vibrant lifestyle, "he says, pointing out the proximity of CareOne to the East Brunswick Performing Arts Center and county fairgrounds.  He is eager to create programs with which residents interact with the greater community in the township and to have CareOne be a place "where the doors are always open."

"I am a people person, " says Slavicek, and those who have known him locally can attest to the truth of that statement.  "Whatever age level -children, teenagers, or seniors, it is important to me to help people.  That it what makes a profession rewarding."

Before taking on this new role with CareOne, Slavicek has served the local community for years.  He was a teaching aide at Spotswood High School.  He remains the Director of the Appleby School Drama Club where he has directed the fifth-grade play for many years (Indeed, he is in production now.)  He rose through the ranks at Chelsea Senior Living, providing administrative care and support, especially in the arts, to seniors statewide.  He has been the Regional Director of Lifestyles and has most recently served as Vice President for Sales and Marketing.

But when the opportunity to manage his own new facility in, as he says, "my own backyard" came to Slaviceck, he could not pass it up.  "Providing care to people you know is like caring for your own mother or grandfather.  I want to know the residents and their stories. This is my home.  I know the people here."

"My job is to create a culture of care and to see it through.  I want to advocate and educate on behalf of Seniors.  I hope to be a resource as we interact with the community in East Brunswick."

Connections across the board with the township are in the forefront of importance to Slavicek and Care One.  "We are also hiring local people.  There is lots of opportunity here to be part of a great staff."

Slavicek, who has been the Mayor of Helmetta for four years, sees East Brunswick as the hub for doctors, retail, and socializing.  "My heart is here."

"I am interested in the community.  I plan to be accessible. In this line of business, it goes back to trust.  CareOne's motto is 'Trust In Our Care.'  It is an emotional decision to settle your loved on in a senior community.  Trust will ease that."
