NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - With a string of days of 90-degree plus temperatures expected this week, the city is once again advising residents that cooling centers are available to escape the heat.

The city library at 60 Livingston Ave. will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today through Wednesday and the New Brunswick Senior Resource Center, 81 Huntington St., will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on those same days.

"Anyone without adequate relief from the heat is welcome to use these locations," city officials said in a statement today.

This is the second time this summer that the city has made the library and senior center available for stretch of consecutive days to give people relief from the heat.

Early in July the same locations were made available for four days during a heat wave with thermometers registering over 90.

Although the National Weather Service is forecasting a chance of rain rain Tuesday and Wednesday, the temperatures are expected to remain in the 90s or high 80s the rest of the week.
