NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. - The city's Code Blue program will be in effect Monday night.

The city will open Unity Square Community Center at 81 Remsen Ave. as a warming center from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

The city uses the Code Blue system when temperatures dip below 25 degrees or there are six inches of snow or more on the ground. The warning center is intended to provide a warm and dry place for residents without adequate shelter.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are expected to hit a low of about 18 degrees tonight.

The city said it attempts to accommodate all guests but, space is limited. Doors will close at capacity or at 9 p.m.

Anyone in need of shelter or social services is encouraged to call 2-1-1 for assistance.
