NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — The alleged murderer named Maniac is still on the loose, but police nabbed his counterpart today, they said in a press release.
Rayshawn Riddick, a 31-year-old from Newark, was taken in this morning by the FBI, the New Brunswick Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office, according to the announcement. They didn't say where they caught him.
He was on the run since late last month, after he played a role in the Aug. 18 slaying of a New Brunswick man, police alleged.
Riddick is facing a first-degree murder charge, a first-degree charge of conspiracy to kill and a weapons offense, according to the prosecutor's office.
He's stuck at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in North Brunswick while he awaits his first court appearance. Cops put him there thanks to a tip from a member of the public, they said.
But his alleged accomplice, Michael Martin—whose street name is Maniac—remains at large. The 26-year-old Newark man is wanted on the same charges as Riddick, police said.
Cops claim the duo killed Hakim Williams, 31, in August. He was found dead in his car just after 11 p.m. on a summer night on Fulton Street.
“Multiple gunshot wounds” killed Williams, authorities said.
Police filed charges on Aug. 29, but the suspects were nowhere to be found.
The three law enforcement agencies are still searching for Martin. People with information regarding the investigation of both men should call New Brunswick police Det. Kenneth Abode at 732-745-5217 or Det. Craig Marchak of the prosecutor's office at 732-745-3254.
