NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - Middlesex County officials confirmed tonight that there has been 11 new cases of coronavirus COVID-19 in New Brunswick in the past 24 hours.

That brings the total of positive cases among the city's residents to 74.

There were 163 new cases diagnosed in Middlesex County over the past 24 hours. There have now been 1,417 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county.

Gov. Phil Murphy announced that in the 24 hours preceding today's press conference, there were 3,489 new cases of COVID-19 in the state. Overall, there have been 25,590 positive cases in New Jersey.

The death toll for the state is up to 537 after Murphy announced 182 more today.

Murphy publically paid tribute to Kim King-Smith, an electrocardiogram technician from Piscataway who died Tuesday of the coronavirus.

"She was part of the University Hospital family for 13 years," Murphy said.

Murphy aslo called King-Smith "a front line hero."
