Monday, August 26

New Brunswick Jazz Project Presents Roseanna Vitro’s Music Mondays Open Session from 8 - 11 p.m.

Join singer Roseanna Vitro tonight at the Tavern on George for her “Music Monday’s Open Session” starting at 8 p.m. This interactive event is free but donations are accepted.

Monday Night Trivia at 7:30 p.m.

Where: George Street Ale House

Enjoy a night full of trivia and delicious food featuring host “Gentleman Jim,” the third-best trivia hosts in North America.

Up to eight people can play together as a team and prizes are awarded for first and second place.

Tuesday, August 27

The Museum at Buccleuch Mansion Open House from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Where: The Museum at Buccleuch Mansion

Come and visit the Museum at Buccleuch Mansion and be sure to check out its collection of children’s toys from ‘days past.’

The late 1730’s mansion is fully restored and the first and second floors are open to the public.  Rooms represent the various periods of the families that lived in the house, with Colonial, Victorian and Federal periods of furniture and accessories on display.

The last tour of the day starts at 3:30 p.m. and since this is a recurring event, private tours (5 or more) can be arranged with a one-week notice.

New Talent Showcase at 7:30 p.m.

Where: The Stress Factory Comedy Club

Think you're funny? Come prove it at the Stress Factory’s ‘New Talent Showcase’ where amateurs come out to try out some stage time and some material.

You never know who is going to stop in and step on the stage as pros tend to stop in from time to time. Everyone gets three minutes of stage time.

Thursday, August 29

The Rotary Club of New Brunswick Presents its ‘End of the Summer Pub, Grub & Poker Fun Event” Starting at 5 p.m.

Where: New Brunswick City Center

The Rotary Club of New Brunswick is hosting the End of the Summer Pub, Grub & Poker Fun event in New Brunswick City Center to raise money and food donations for many of the area food pantries. 

Patrons can bring your $10 donation or a bag/box of food the night of the event. Please check-in at Harvest Moon Brewery at 392 George St. between 5 - 6 p.m. on August 29 with your donation to get a wrist band and a list of locations/specials. 

You must be age 21 or older to participate. Visit each of the participating pubs, make a purchase and you will receive one card towards building the best poker hand. You can visit up to 10 to build a better poker hand. The best poker hands at the end of the evening will win prizes.

Friday, August 30

Cook Farmer’s Market from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Where: Rutgers Gardens

Rutgers Gardens Cook’s Market provides a well-managed and organized farm market for both the local farmer/producer and patron. Our aim is to encourage the development of local agricultural and specialty products, as well as promote local economic development and community building through educational and family-friendly activities.

Since 2008, the Farmers Market has promoted land stewardship by practicing sustainable growing practices and providing the community nutritious, quality food. The market has been held every Friday from May through December. More than 25 vendors with local produce, meats, flowers, prepared foods, cheeses, wines and more. People gather to wander around, chat with vendors and friends, and fill their bags with locally produced foods.

 

Paint Nite: Paint Your Pet at 7 p.m.

Where: Blackthorn Restaurant & Irish Pub

Enjoy some delicious pub food and paint your furry friend at this popular paint event.

The Stress Factory Presents Superstar Eddie Griffin at 7:30 p.m. & 9:45 p.m.

Where: The Stress Factory Comedy Club

A popular comedian turned actor who started his career on-stage as a dare, funnyman Eddie Griffin has built an ever-growing fan base since jumping onto the comedy scene in 1990 and will be at the Stress Factory on Saturday.

Door time is 5:30 p.m. for the 7:30 p.m. show and 9:15 p.m. for the 9:45 p.m. show.

Sunday, September 1

Open Hack Sunday from 1:30 to 5 p.m.

Where: Fair Use Building and Research Labs

FUBAR Labs is a member-run non-profit makerspace on Jersey Avenue. 

Stop by to receive a tour of the lab or bring a project to work on. Attendees often see 3-D printing and laser cutting at this one-of-a-kind space.
