NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — A first-alarm fire that tore through a Hartwell Street garage early this morning “extensively damaged” the structure and four nearby vehicles, according to a city official.

The call for a fire at 34 Hartwell St. came in around 3:52 a.m., city spokesperson Jennifer Bradshaw told TAPinto New Brunswick. Firefighters arrived on scene four minutes later.

They found a one-story, detached, four-bay garage “fully involved,” Bradshaw said. Fire vented through the front windows of the building, she said.
