NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – No one was injured after a two-alarm fire spread through two occupied homes this afternoon on Townsend Street, according to a city official.
The city’s police and fire departments responded to the blaze at 3:30 p.m., New Brunswick Police Capt. J.T. Miller said via email. An alert from Breaking News Network reported that the fire was extinguished about an hour later.
The houses are located at 175 and 177 Townsend St., Miller said. Townsend Street sits between Lee and Remsen avenues and is one block from Suydam Street.
The first breaking news alert mentioned a fire in only one home. Word of the fire spreading to the second home came about 10 minutes later.
Officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
