NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – Former state Assemblyman Peter J. Barnes Jr. and Carteret Mayor Daniel Reiman are seeking to replace Joseph C. Spicuzzo as chairman of the Middlesex County Democratic Committee, according to mycentraljersey.com.
The published report also noted speculation that Kevin McCabe, chief of staff during the gubernatorial administration of Jim McGreevey, is being urged to vie for the post.
Spicuzzo, 65, the Middlesex County Sheriff for nearly 30 years, resigned the Democratic Party post after his arrest Mar. 7 on charges of official misconduct and bribery. He also resigned his commission seat on the New Jersey Sports and Exhibition Authority.
