NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — As some kids begin to come down with the back-to-school blues, parents might be even more peeved about what they'll shell out on school supplies.

But don't fret: The number could be smaller than you think.

That's because the New Brunswick's recreation department plans to give away free school supplies and backpacks on Sept. 2 to families who live in the city. The back-to-school gear will be free and available to all children at the HUB Teen Center , according to the city.

Various community groups and local agencies contributed donations to make the supplies drive possible.

The items will be available on a first-come-first-served basis, according to the city.

Distribution is scheduled for noon Sept. 2 at the teen center. It will go on only as long as the stockpile lasts.
