SOMERSET, NJ - Residents from in and around Franklin Township plan to gather to speak out against hate and violence this weekend.
The Franklin Township Interfaith Council is sponsoring a vigil to be held at 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, at St. Mathias Catholic church.
"We are deeply saddened and concerned by emboldened hatred and violence that is taking place across our nation with the latest (example) being Saturday with a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia that resulted in 19 people injured and the death of Heather Heyer," FT Interfaith Council President Dr. Alex Kharazi said in a statement.
Local officials and community leaders are expected to attend the gathering.
All are welcome to attend, and the Interfaith Council encourages the community to invite friends, family members and neighbors.
