NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - The New Brunswick High School was locked down for two hours following reports of a weapon brought into the school, police officials said.
School officials locked down the building at 9:20 a.m. once reports surfaced that someone might have brought in a weapon, according to Capt. JT Miller, a spokesperson for the New Brunswick Police Department.
Police officers swept the building and found that there hadn’t been any weapon brought into the high school building or surrounding grounds, Miller said.
The school returned to normal operations at 11:35 a.m., Miller said.
It is not immediately clear what prompted school and police officials to believe a weapon was on school grounds.
