Media Advisory: Rutgers Preparatory School to host “Healthy Eyes, Healthy Lives” initiative from Rutgers University to provide diabetes education and free HbA1c and blood glucose testing on May 22nd


What: Rutgers Preparatory School will host the “Healthy Eyes, Healthy Lives” initiative, a team of driven and passionate Rutgers Pharmacy students who seek to educate the community about the dangers of diabetes, and will offer educational programming and free testing of HbA1c and blood glucose levels and educational programming to interested members of the local community.

Who:
* Healthy Eyes, Healthy Lives - a diabetes eye initiative designed to target patient populations to educate and screen for risk of diabetic-related retinopathy
* Community members who wish to learn more about diabetes and related eye health, and/or receive free testing of HbA1c and blood glucose levels. HbA1c testing will be available to at-risk individuals. Why: Diabetes is a rising threat to the health of many Americans. Education and early detection are two important measures that can be taken against this threat. This program will offer information to attendees on risk factors associated with diabetes, as well as testing of blood glucose and HbA1c (for at-risk individuals).
