NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — A man who crashed his car into a tree on Somerset Street on Monday sustained several injuries, according to city police.

Peter Herman, a 49-year-old East Brunswick resident, was driving his black Acura at 11:34 p.m. Feb. 27 when he lost control of the vehicle, police said.

Capt. J.T. Miller said a preliminary investigation suggests that Herman “suffered some degree of medical emergency,” which caused him to hit a nearby tree.

Emergency responders took Herman to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries to his mouth, ankle and foot, Miller said.

What type of medical crisis caused the crash and Herman’s current condition are unclear.

Police haven’t issued any summonses to the man.
