The Middlesex County Department of Public Safety and Health, Office of Health Services, will host the “10th Annual Pancreatic Cancer 5k Run for the Cure and Cancer Awareness Walk” on Saturday, June 9 at Roosevelt Park in Edison.

Registration will begin at 8 a.m. Runners will start at 9 a.m., and the walkers will follow shortly after. All funds raised go directly to the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.

“On the anniversary of our 10th year sponsoring this event, the County’s goal continues to be raising awareness about pancreatic cancer; raising funds to aid in research; and supporting the tireless work being done by the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey as they strive to find a cure for this devastating disease,” said Freeholder Director Ronald G. Rios.

The event is being sponsored by the Regional Chronic Disease Coalition of Middlesex and Union Counties and the Edison Municipal Alliance.

In addition to the 5K event, the Health Services Office and the Office of Parks and Recreation will host a Co-Ed Softball Tournament on Saturday, July 21. It begins at 8:30 a.m. at Warren Park in Woodbridge.

Twelve teams will be accepted, and each team is guaranteed to play three games. Space is very limited. Teams are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Donation and application are due at time of registration. Registration will close July 16.
All proceeds will benefit pancreatic cancer research at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Suggested donation is $250.00 per team. Donations should be made in the form of a check or money order payable to "CINJ - RUF" (Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey - Rutgers University Foundation). 

Umpire fees are $24 per game.
