NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – A Code Blue alert has been issued by city officials, who open a warming center when temperatures are expected to drop to 25 degrees or below overnight.

Unity Square Community Center at 81 Remsen Avenue will be open overnight as a warming center between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.

The city will attempt to accommodate all guests, but space is limited.

Doors will close at capacity or 9 p.m.

Due to COVID19 regulations, all guests are required to wear a face mask at all times and have their temperature checked.

Anyone in need of shelter or other social services can call 211 for assistance.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures late Saturday night and early Sunday morning are expected to drop to about 17 degrees. There will be a west wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
