NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — Two juveniles were shot on Saturday night in a housing complex near the city’s downtown, according to police.
The shootings occurred around 10 p.m. May 6 near 33 Commercial Ave., police said. The two unidentified victims “sustained “non-life-threatening injuries” and received treatment at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, according to a press release.
New Brunswick Police Department detectives are investigating the matter. But they don’t have a description of the suspect at this time, police said.
Cops think the shootings could be related to an assault that occurred earlier that day in the area.
A Rutgers University police officer saw a “large fight” and subsequently arrested a juvenile who allegedly assaulted others with a baseball bat, according to the press release. Campus police took in and charged that unnamed individual.
Police ask anyone with information on either incident to call New Brunswick police Sgt. Harry Lemmerling at 732-745-5217.
