NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — They do say Mom knows best.
Saint Peter’s University Hospital has won a 2017 Women’s Choice Award for being selected one of the country’s best hospitals for patient experience, according to a press release. In making the decision, the award presenters considered women patient satisfaction, physician communications, how response nurses and other staffers are, cleanliness and how likely women are to refer friends to the hospital.
“There is no greater honor than to know your hospital continues to be recognized as one of the best in the nation,” said Delia Passi, CEO and founder of WomenCertified, which doles out the award, and former publisher of the magazines Working Woman and Working Mothe. “Your commitment to delivering an exceptional patient experience is clearly demonstrated through your progressive leadership and an extraordinary team that shares your vision.”
Women make 90 percent of healthcare decisions for themselves and their loved ones, according to the American Academy of Family Physicians. That means the decoration is an especially important one for the New Brunswick medical center.
The Women’s Chose Award takes into account scores from a hospital database regarding criteria that are important to women. The contest also considers “in-depth research” on customer satisfaction and doesn’t accept payment for placement on any list.
Award winners are among the 100 best for hospitals of their size.
Saint Peter’s made the list in 2012 and 2014.
“We always focus on exceptional patient care,” Ronald Rak, CEO of Saint Peter’s Healthcare System, said in a statement. “To be recognized as a top hospital for patient experience and a Women’s Choice Award recipient validates the work of our dedicated staff on behalf of women and all our patients.”
