NEW BRUNSWICK – City school officials are refusing to comment on the status of a school principal, except to say that the vice principal is now running the school.
Schools Superintendent Aubrey Johnson said he could not release any information when asked if Livingston Elementary School principal Jose Negron had been suspended.
“As a matter of policy, we do not comment on matters involving district personnel,” Johnson said in an email.
“Day-to-day administration of Livingston Elementary School is currently the responsibility of Vice Principal Nadine Sanchez, with support from the district’s central office,” Johnson said.
Negron has an annual salary of slightly more than $140,068, according to district officials. It is unclear if he is currently receiving his pay.
Livingston Elementary School on Delavan Street has about 580 students, and more than 90 percent of the students are Hispanic, according to public records. There are about 45 teachers in the school.
The school is less than one block from the larger A Chester Redshaw School, which has just over 780 students.
