MANALAPAN, NJ - The New Brunswick Zebras could not get anything going on the road Friday night, falling 49-0 to the Manalapan Braves.

The higher seed Braves took the Zebras out of the equation quickly, scoring five times in the first half alone.

Manalapan’s Naim Mayfield ran in scores from 18 and 83 yards in the first quarter.

Chris Maksimik brought in a 17-yard pass in the opening period, giving Manalapan a 21-0 start.

Mayfield ran in a third score from one-yard out and Luke Corcione rushed 18 yards for a score in the second, ending the half with the Braves on top 35-0.

The Braves added two more scores in the second half, completing the blowout and advancing to the semi-finals.

The loss ends New Brunswick’s hopes in the state tournament.

South Brunswick advances to the second-round of playoffs and will face the Manalapan Braves in the semi-final on Nov. 18.
