NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - Fast moving heavy rains quickly deluged a part of George Street and forced the closure of the ramp from George Street to Route 18 south.
City police put out an alert at 3:30 p.m. about the closure of the ramp near the southern end of the city.
The National Weather issued a flash flooding advisory effective through much of the evening.
Thunderstorms began rumbling through Middlesex County shortly before 3 p.m. and storms were expected to continue through much of the night.
The good news is that the humidity levels are expected to drop for much of the rest of the week.
