FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ - Police are seeking help in an active investigation of an auto accident involving a 71-year-old unidentified male from New Brunswick. 

The victim was struck on Easton Avenue, near Castleton Avenue, on Thursday morning, according to authorities. Police said he sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

Easton Avenue was shut down during an investigation by the Franklin Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau, according to police.

According to police, the investigation revealed Unab Javed, a 27-year-old female from Somerset, was driving her 2016 Mazda CX5 eastbound on Castleton Avenue prior to stopping at the intersection so she could turn right onto Easton Avenue.

Javed proceeded when traffic was allowed and did not see the victim crossing the roadway and struck him, according to police. The victim's identity is being withheld pending family notification. 

The Franklin Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau is actively investigating the factors that contributed to this crash.  Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Officer James Raics at 732-873-5533 extension 3177.
