There is only one way to persuade Highland Park to cancel P is for Palestine. We must shame them by having negative publicity worldwide. This newspaper and others must speak out. This is not a case of freedom of speech but rather a fight against anti-Semitism.
The book P for PALESTINE is still to be scheduled at the Highland Park Library. No date yet as I understand the author is out of town until September. I speak only for myself, but I believe both the Highland Park Council and the Library Board never intended to take our pleas seriously as many courageous members of the Jewish Community continued fighting for the book reading to be canceled.
The council told us that would see what could be done and when I asked if they were afraid of a lawsuit the mayor answered no. At the library board meeting it was Jew against Jew. What a Shanda. The liberal Jews insisted on freedom of speech and yes one mentioned fear of the library board being sued.
We do not need the anti-semites to attack us our fellow liberal Jews do a great job. They also expressed their hatred for our President Trump. There were no Muslims or Palestinians at the meeting. I wonder if they would have fought for Hitler to be allowed to speak. I was one of the last speakers and predicted the board had already made up its mind. I was correct. The president of the board announced at the conclusion that the decision to allow the book to be read was already decided. In my opinion, we were set us for failure. Shame on Highland Park, the council and the library board This fight is not over yet.
