NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - Jeff Tittel, head of the Sierra's Club's New Jersey chapter, will speak on "The State of the Environment" at the Feb. 13 meeting of the Greater New Brunswick Area Chapter of the NJ League of Women Voters at Douglas College.

Tittel will describe state and national perspectives on climate change, clean energy, efforts to protect clean air, clean water, and the cleaning up of Superfund sites. He will address what people can do about these issues.

The meeting is open to the public, and Tittel will take questions from the audience.

A New Jersey native, Tittel was a political lobbyist who later turned to organize grassroots environmental groups in New Jersey.

He has led the Sierra Club in the state for more than 20, having been appointed the executive director in 1998.

Tittel has been named one of the top 100 policy makers in NJ and was a member of Governor Murphy’s transition team for the environment. Last December Tittel helped organize a coalition of 50 New Jersey environmental organizations supporting a state moratorium on natural gas pipelines.

The meeting will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Hickman Hall, room 138, on the Douglass College
