NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - Sure, there are plenty of questions when Rutgers takes the football field this Saturday night to take on powerhouse Michigan at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
Michigan is favored by 26.5 points. So what?
Come for the Big 10 football, but stay for the fun.
It will be the annual "blackout" football game with a twist: Rutgers will "Stripe The Birthplace."
Blackout football games are popular among RU students and other fans, who are encouraged to wear black Rutgers shirts instead of the usual red. In previous years, those sitting in non-student seating wore whatever they felt like, usually red. (TapInto New Brunswick staff insist on wearing black.)
This year, Rutgers is asking those in non-student seating to dress based on their section. Odd numbered sections are asked to wear black, and even numbered sections are asked to wear red, creating a striped effect within Highpoint Solutions Stadium. The student section will be asked to all wear black, similar to other blackout games.
Scott White, the officials Rutgers fan of TAPInto New Brunswick, reports it "is going to be AWESOME" and to "GO RU."
