NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — A tractor-trailer toppled over early this morning in New Brunswick, closing a portion of Route 1 for several hours, according to city police.
The incident occurred around 3 a.m. today, April 12, as the truck attempted to travel on the ramp from the northbound side of Route 18 to Route 1 south, New Brunswick Police Capt. J.T. Miller told TAPinto New Brunswick. The vehicle spilled debris onto the highway when it tipped, blocking two lanes of traffic on Route 1 south.
As a result of the crash, the driver of the tractor-trailer sustained “minor injuries,” Miller said. That individual refused medical treatment at the scene.
Emergency responders diverted traffic on Route 1 south to Route 18 for nearly three hours, Miller said.
The ramp was also reopened prior to rush hour.
