They were taken to the Somerset County Jail in Somerville pending a detention hearing.

According to Robertson and United States Postal Inspection Service Inspector in Charge, James Buthorn,  the investigation into suspicious parcels being mailed to a Hillcrest Avenue residence in Franklin Township began on Sept. 11.

Investigators seized one of the packages which was subjected to a "sniff" test by Somerset County Sheriff's Office K9 "Basilone." The dog indicated a positive result for the presence of narcotics.

On Sept. 14, investigators applied for, and were granted, a Superior Court anticipatory search warrant for the package and the Hillcrest Avenue residence. Subsequently, members of the United States Postal Inspection Service as well as members of the Somerset County Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force determined that Diaz received the suspicious parcel.

The Superior Court search warrant was executed on the residence; Diaz and Guevara were there. The search yielded about a half a kilogram (507 grams) of cocaine and various drug paraphernalia.
